One of the officials who attended the meeting said that Buhari had ordered lawmakers to resolve the crisis within the next six hours, before the Tuesday plenary resumption.

Commenting on the meeting outcome, Dogara, who has been perceived as a rebel by many, insisted that he had always stood by his party, PM News reports.

“I will always be by the party. There has never been a time that I never stood firmly by the party. So, like my chairman has explained, we are going to do it in consultation with the party and I’m sure that sooner than later we will have good news for Nigerians.”

Gbajabiamila, on his part, described the meeting as fruitful and also expressed optimism that the dispute would be ended by Tuesday. The politician noted that for the first time since the incident the contending groups in the House had gathered in a cordial atmosphere.
