Lobi to honour Ortom by winning Fed Cup

Nigerian Premier League side, Lobi Stars of Makurdi have vowed to win this year’s Federation Cup competition to honour and encourage Governor Samuel Ortom to continue to support the club.

Lobi Stars on Wednesday at the Rojenny Stadium Oba narrowly survived in the hands of National League team, Removed Stars to qualify for the quarter finals of the competition.

In a statement yesterday, General Manager of Lobi and former international, Barnabas Imenger said the club is highly motivated to win the trophy for the governor and the football loving people of the state.

He said Ortom has given unflinching support to the club since he was sworn into office as the governor of the state.

“We are most grateful to his His Excellency Governor Samuel Ortom for his unwavering support. Lobi is one of the best sponsored clubs in the country. We are paid as and when due and there can’t be any motivation better than this.

“We have therefore resolved to welcome our sports loving governor with the Federation Cup. We want to present the trophy as a thank you present,” he promised.

Imenger also said Lobi Stars with the motivation from government will come back strongly in the second round of the Nigeria Premier League.

“We did not do very well in the first round of the league but we shall bounce back in the second stanza. Our technical bench is working on the lapses we have noticed,” he assured.
