DON’T DESPAIR, I WILL MAKE BENUE PROSPEROUS – ORTOM

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, yesterday charged members of his cabinet not to despair on account of current challenges in the state but look forward to a prosperous future assuring that gold would be found in the state during the tenure of his administration.

He made the remarks at the opening of a three-day retreat for commissioners, advisers, permanent secretaries and caretaker chairmen at the new Banquet Hall of the Peoples House in Makurdi.

“The same God who assured me in 1992 that I’ll be Governor and it has come to pass also told me that during my tenure gold would be found in the state,” he stated.

“The enemy will surely be on the way to hinder, principalities and powers of darkness will fight us, but God will surely give us the victory as contained in our campaign anthem, if we move on the righteous side of God.”

According to the Governor the story of how God raised him from grass to grace and also caused him to win elections has been one that has caused unbelievers to seek to know God and strengthened believers in their walk with the Almighty.

Governor Ortom stated that success or failure recipes could be found in Job 36: 11 and 12, as well as Deuteronomy 28: 1-14 and 15-68 and appealed to the appointees to seek and obey God’s counsel so that they could succeed
“My cabinet is God ordained and bound to succeed amidst difficult challenge,” the Governor stressed.

He stated the appointees were chosen after much prayers and fasting in the most transparent manner and urged them to offer quality service to the people of the state assuring that as captain of the ship he would promote a common bond among them and provide them with an enabling environment to discharge their responsibilities.

The Governor stated that the event was organized to sensitize the appointees to imbibe the philosophy of his administration and stressed the need for them to shun acts such as rumor mongering and gossip as well as work in synergy so as to effect the needed change being canvassed by Nigerians.

The Governor said he would always subject himself to superior argument in acknowledgement of the fact that no one had monopoly of knowledge and that God created human beings to complement one another.

Chairman of the Strategy committee and one of the commissioners, Professor Dennis Ityavyar stated that the retreat was organized as an orientation program for the appointees who would also interact among themselves and deliberate on the blueprint of the administration which he disclosed has been tagged “Our Collection Vision For A New Benue.”
