Political War In Catholic Church
Before now, Imo state was one of the peaceful states in
Nigeria as far as political activities are concerned. But now, the
situation have changed.
The political heavyweights contesting for the number one seat in Imo state, seem to have charged the political atmosphere in the state as the “Heartland” as Imo is fondly called is now synonymous with political violence.
The candidates who have an enviable political degree are the incumbent governor, Rochas Okorocha, deputy speaker of the federal house of representatives, Emeka Ihedioha and former minister of interior, Emmanuel Iheanacho.
One recurring issue in the state that have continued to generate controversy is governorship debates organised by various groups, as it would seem that each time there is a debate about to be hold, or during the debate, crisis will break out.
Recently, the Catholic church in Owerri decided to organise its own debate. But what would have been a smooth process was truncated by hired women sympathetic to the cause of various political parties.

Meanwhile, a major disaster was averted recently in Imo state as a pedestrian bridge built by Governor Rochas Okorocha at Heroes’ Children’s Park collapsed while the governor was on the bridge.
