Buhari’s Victory: Food Vendors, Okada Riders Offer Free Services In Benue
There was serious jubilation in Makurdi and other major towns in Benue state over the declaration of General Muhammadu Buhari as winner of the presidential election. Food vendors offered food to customers for free of charge, just as Okada conveyed passengers without collecting fare.
This is coming just as prominent members of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) including party supporters flooded the private residence of the senate minority leader, Senator George Akume, located at the highbrow Judges Quarters area of Makurdi, to appeal how they would defect to the leading opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
LEADERSHIP witnessed ardent supporters of ‘change’ in Makurdi, Gboko and Otukpo towns obviously very happy over what they referred to as “the new dawn” and they were gathered at strategic unwinding spots and amusement parks, discussing the outcome of the polls.
The visibly over-joyous agrarian people filled the major access roads and streets of the towns in jubilation and they were enthusiastically saluting everyone who showed two fingers in the air to signify the slogan of APC.
It was gathered that the food vendors and other artisans offered free services as mark of celebration for the long awaited victory of Buhari which, the people said it is timely and a total liberation of the poverty stricken condition of the people.
Mr. Samson Kwaghgande, a commercial motorcyclist who was met the Wurukum roundabout in Makurdi town said “what we have done is to show that we are seriously happy for the change because the misrule of PDP has come to an end.”
