Benue Guber Election: Whirlwind of Defection from PDP

image

The APC victory in the presidential election has made the people of Benue South Senatorial district (zone c) more vulnerable to change. It used to be an illusion or taboo for the people of the zone to vote against PDP in previous elections, but there is every reason for the party to worry about the zone in the forth coming governorship election.
The APC triumph has inspired PDP extremists to consider defection from the party to the rampaging and ravaging APC. The APC has sent politicians in zone c scrambling to be counted on the change train and platform .The presidential election has routinely pushed attention to APC in zone c and ranking PDP members are considering massive defection along with their supporters.
Among the potential defectors are notable political icons and Titans in the zone: David Mark, Gen. Lawrence Onoja, Hon Agbo Ogah and Moses Odu. Others are Reuben Ade, Dr Matthias Oygeya, Mrs Adah Chenge. The nightmare of the massive defection in the zone is indeed humongous.
Benue civil servants have served notice to embark on indefinite strike before the governorship election. This sharpening socio political tensions add to the worries of the PDP as the governorship election approaches.
So far, the APC has proved remarkably resilient in zone c as it continues to harvest more members from PDP, but there is no cause for complacency as the PDP intends to fight bloody.
Requiem for Suswam.
Suswam will go into the governorship election as a lame duck, his own senatorial ambition has gone to the winds. His boy Tarzoor will face stiff challenge from APC Ortom who is sure to win. Benue voters will reward Suswam with rejection for his ruinous administration of the state.
It will also be a period of political cleaner for Suswam in zone A. His former allies will be out in full force to scuttle the chances of PDP in the area: Akpereshi, Akputu, Aboho, Udende Kwembe, Amo, Tilley Gyado, Atoza Hinda and numerous others.
Figuratively, they want to sweep Suswam under the carpet for not fulfilling his obligations to them even though they are the highest beneficiary of ill administration.
PDP is confronted by hostile members and a sense of mounting liability. Party members have lost faith in the party and its authority will suffer in this election.
