Al-Shabaab Carries Out Another Deadly Attack, 15 Dead
Somali-based militant group, Al-Shabaab, has carried out a deadly attack on a Kenyan university killing at least 15 people.
The
attack according to CNN, occurred early on Thursday, April 2, when
several gunmen stormed the Garissa University College firing
indiscriminately and taking hostages.
According
to security and interior ministry officials at least 15 people have
been killed and 550 people are unaccounted for at the campus that had
about 815 students.
Officials said
one terrorist was arrested when he tried to slip through the security
cordon and flee the scene. Al-Shabaab has already claimed responsibility
for the attack.
The
dangerously porous border between Somalia and Kenya has made it easy
for Al-Shabaab militants to cross over and carry out attacks.
The
deadliest assault by Al-Shabaab in Kenya was in September 2013, when
the group attacked the Westgate shopping center in Nairobi, killing 67
people.
