MASSOB Calls For Jega's Removal
The Leadership of the Ebonyi state chapter of the
Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra
(MASSOB), has said the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC) Professor Attahiru Jega, must be removed from office.

The group is calling for Jega’s removal following allegations of sectionalism and incompetence levelled against him, Vanguard reports.
According to Mr. John Nwifuru, the zonal leader of MASSOB, Ebonyi South zone, who spoke to newsmen in Abakaliki, their investigation shows that Jega is pursuing a northern agenda by increasing polling units in the North.
“We want to call on the Federal government to relieve Jega of his job before this forthcoming general election. He is not national in outlook; from our investigation, Jega is pursuing a northern agenda and should not be allowed to remain in that office,” he said.
Nwifuru also condemned the use of card readers in the upcoming general elections, saying it should be scrapped.
He explained that if the device failed to perform excellently, it would be disastrous for the nation as a lot of people would be disenfranchised.
The use of card readers has been a topic of debate among Nigerians as some are in support of it while some others are opposed to it.
The MASSOB leader therefore urged Federal Government to appoint another INEC chairman, who will be more national in his approach, to avoid a situation of anarchy, lawlessness and crisis before or during the elections.
Recall that some days back, the national leader of MASSOB, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, had expressed concern over the controversy surrounding Jega’s personality, while also calling for his removal.
Also some protesting youths under the aegis of Middle Belt Concerned Youths (MBCY), had shut down INEC headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, calling for Jega’s removal.
