SUSWAM FILES SUIT DEMANDING N100 MILLION COMPENSATION FROM BENUE STATE GOVT

 

Benue State Ex-Governor Gabriel Suswam has filed a suit against the state government for the revocation of the Atom Kpera Lodge which he allocated to himself while in office. In a revocation notice to the former Governor from the state’s Head of Service, Mr Adaikwu Inwata, the state government stated that they had sighted “fundamental irregularities” in the process that led to the transaction and ordered him to vacate the property immediately.

Counsel to Suswam, David Iorhemba however explained that, the Ex-Governor was not invited before the revocation and therefore sues for a compensation of one hundred million naira from the state government.

Counsel to the State Government and Commissioner for Justice, Michael Gusa said Government is ready to defend its actions.

PDP Blast David Mark For Praising President Buhari

PDP’s Social Media Director of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Deji Adeyanju has taken a swipe at former Senate President, David Mark and his former colleagues at the senate Stella Oduah and Ben Bruce for praising President Muhammadu Buhari. The former Senate President had in his Christmas message expressed his confidence in President Buhari to reposition the country and urged Nigerians to exercise patience.

Mr Adeyanju however said it was an act of cowardice for respected leaders who were supposed to provide a formidable opposition in Nigeria to be singing unnecessary praise for the president, especially Senator David Mark who he felt was doing so because of the fear of losing the forth coming Benue South rerun senatorial election.

“Suddenly, the respected David Mark, who has been a senator since the advent of democracy in 1999 and two time Senate President of our great nation, is suddenly afraid that if he does not patronize president Buhari and sing his praises he might not win the re-run election for his Benue South senatorial district.”

“It is disheartening to read some of the comments by people who are supposed to be strong opposition figures in our nation. What these our leaders do not seem to understand is that you do not patronize dictators or appeal to them.” Read excerpts of his press release.

Some Nigerian students studying abroad staged a peaceful protest in front of the Nigerian embassy yesterday over the Central Bank of Nigeria's ban on the use of Debit and credit cards outside Nigeria. CBN plans to stop the use of Nigerian debit and credit cards as from January 1st 2016..

EFCC files charges against former PDP Chairman and his son over N600m diversion

Former  National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Minister of defense, Dr. Haliru Mohammed Bello, and his son,Abbah Mohammed,  have both been formally charged by the  Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for collecting N600 million from the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki.
According to reports, father and son are likely to be docked on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.

 Mohammed Bello's son,  Abbah Mohammed, allegedly received N600m from the Office of the NSA (ONSA) in the name of Bam Properties, however, the reason for the transfer of the money to the company was not disclosed.

Read Ben Murray-Bruce's reaction to CBN's ban of ATM use abroad

Senator Ben Murray Bruce has reacted to the Central Bank of Nigeria's decision to ban Nigerians from using their debit and credit cards abroad. Reports about the planned ban came to light few days ago when BBC quoted a source as saying that the CBN will from January 1st 2016 stop foreign purchase via the use of credit or debit card. The decision is reportedly part of the government's effort to try to stem the flow of foreign exchange out of the country.
